The Cambridge World History of Food volumes 1 and 2
Wow. I could spend months with these books and still remain fascinating. The books aren’t so much arranged alphabetically as they are according to major subjects like rice, algae, chestnuts, khat and broad subjects such as History, diet and hunger-gatherers. It’s very difficult to flip through these books and not find yourself spending more time than you had counted on getting lost in one article or another. Copyright 2000, reprinted 2001, (first edition, second printing), hard cover, 2 volumes, vol. one 1120 pages, vol. two 2153 pages. Condition excellent
